Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov told Sputnik on June 13 that the country’s S-350 Vityaz air defense complex destroyed an air target for the first time while participating in a special military campaign.
`Recently, the Obukhov (Russian metallurgy and heavy machinery manufacturing) plant announced that the S-350 Vityaz air defense missile system for the first time in the world hit a Ukrainian target in automatic mode.
The source said that the S-350 automatically detected, tracked and destroyed Ukrainian fighters and drones in areas where Russia conducted special military operations.
The S-350 Vityaz is a mobile multi-channel medium-range air defense missile system developed by defense industry corporation Almaz-Antey.
The S-350 Vityaz system includes a self-propelled launcher, an electronic radar scanning all angles of space and a command post.
The S-350 is designed to protect important installations and military formations from attacks with modern air attack weapons.
The S-350 can intercept ballistic targets at a maximum distance of 25km and neutralize aerodynamic targets, including aircraft, drones, cruise missiles and similar devices,
This shield can intercept targets moving at a speed of 2 km/s, ensuring quick and effective defense against air threats.
The S-350 Vityaz has many advantages over some rival air defense systems.
