(Dan Tri) – Ukrainian military forces switched from defense to attack and continued to advance deep into Bakhmut after Russia declared control of this city.

`We have advanced from 200m to 1,100m in many different areas (on the front line) in the direction of Bakhmut in the past day,` Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar announced on Telegram on June 7.
Ms. Maliar said that the Ukrainian army continued to conduct attacks in the Bakhmut area in Donetsk province for several days, while the Russian army was on the defensive to maintain its positions.
`Our army has switched from a defensive position to an offensive position in the direction of Bakhmut,` Ms. Maliar said.
According to Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister, Russia currently lacks forces in Bakhmut and is sending troops from other locations to this area.
Ms. Maliar affirmed that the fighting around Bakhmut `remains the focus of the conflicts`.
Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on May 20 that Russian forces had complete control of the city of Bakhmut during a special military operation in Ukraine.
In an update on the war situation on June 7, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ukrainian Army, confirmed that the soldiers of this force are still conducting a raid campaign along the Bakhmut flank to regain the battle city.
`On the Bakhmut front, the Ukrainian army is still conducting flanking operations. The enemy is losing ground near the city of Bakhmut,` Mr. Syrskyi declared.
On the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Ukraine had conducted attacks near Bakhmut, but were unsuccessful.

According to Mr. Konashenkov, Russian forces killed more than 190 Ukrainian soldiers in the southern region of Donetsk in 24 hours.
