Tass reported that the Akhmat task force will be deployed to Donetsk to capture some densely populated areas in Donetsk, according to Chechen leader Kadyrov.

`Chechen units have received new orders to redeploy to Donetsk. According to the orders, Chechen soldiers will begin active combat operations to gain control of a number of populated areas,`

Mr. Kadyrov said that Chechen special forces are preparing for combat operations with support from the Russian Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

`The first phase has been underway for several days as the commanders of these units drafted battle plans and received new intelligence data,` the Chechen leader said.

On May 30, after the incident in which Moscow was attacked by 8 UAVs, Mr. Kadyrov called on the Kremlin to declare martial law nationwide and use all resources to fight Ukraine.

He said that Russia’s military approach to Ukraine is still relatively gentle, and called for a more drastic strategy to deal with Kiev in the future.

Mr. Kadyrov is one of the strong supporters of Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine.

The Republic of Chechnya is a predominantly Muslim region.

In September 2022, Mr. Kadyrov announced that the Chechen Republic had established the OMON Akhmat-1 task force specifically to serve Russia’s military operations in Ukraine.

According to him, this force consists of 2,000 soldiers who are fully trained, equipped and have ideals.

Last November, Mr. Kadyrov revealed that Chechnya at that time sent a total of 20,000 troops to Ukraine.
