Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 22 accused Russia of possibly preparing to carry out an attack on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, which could lead to a radiation leak.

`We have just received a report from the Ukrainian intelligence and security agency. Currently, our intelligence has received information that Russia is considering a scenario of attacking the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant with high risks.

Mr. Zelensky warned that radiation cannot distinguish between national borders, emphasizing that if a leak occurs, winds could blow these dangerous materials to other countries.

Mr. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is sharing all available information and evidence with partners in Europe, America, China, Brazil, India, Arab countries and Africa.

`There should never be any attacks on nuclear power plants anywhere. This incident should not be like with Kakhovka. The world has been warned, so the world can and

After accusations from Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declared that this was not true.

`That’s another lie. The delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) just arrived at the plant site and appreciated the process there. They observed everything,` Mr. Peskov said.

He emphasized that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi and Director General of the Russian Atomic Agency Rosatom Alexey Likhachev are expected to hold negotiations in the near future.

`Our dialogues and cooperation with the IAEA continue. We want to continue this contact. And the IAEA is also interested. Everything else is a lie,` he said.

The IAEA delegation led by Mr. Grossi arrived at the Zaporizhia factory on June 15.

The IAEA Director General emphasized that the main goal of the mission is to assess the situation after the Kakhovka dam collapse and how the incident affected the Zaporizhia plant.

Mr. Grossi said that the management of the Zaporizhia plant has taken the necessary measures to stabilize the situation in the new conditions.

In a related development, pro-Russian government official in Zaporizhia Vladimir Rogov warned that Ukraine could launch attacks on nuclear power plants in the area ahead of the NATO summit scheduled for tomorrow.

`Ukraine may attack the Zaporizhia plant in the near future, before the NATO summit to demonstrate to the alliance that it is succeeding and motivate NATO to send aid and weapons,` he alleged, but did not specify.
